Auburn Public Art Initiative

Auburn Public Art Initiative
Funded by the New York Department of State Downtown Revitalization Initiative, the Public Art Placemaking Initiative was administered by the Auburn Downtown Partnership. The project incorporates public art throughout the downtown core, celebrates local Artists, beautifies the public realm, and attracts visitors to a new ‘Avenue of the Arts.’
Steele Landscape Architecture led the project, including site design, bidding, construction observation and inspections, and developed a detailed program of public art procurement and integration. The public art installations were planned and advanced at two prominent intersections within the City of Auburn. Steele guided the Business Improvement District and the Public Art Commission through the Art Call process, administered the Call for Art, and managed the selected Artists through logistical planning, fabrication, and installation.
