Lowville Veteran’s Memorial Park

Steele Landscape Architecture partnered with Camiros Ltd. on the schematic design rehabilitation of Lowville’s Veteran’s Memorial Park, creating a vibrant, multi-functional space that honors its historic significance while addressing community needs. Anchored by the park’s cherished bandstand and veterans’ memorial, the design introduces a spray park, a new locker room facility, and playground enhancements to provide engaging recreational opportunities for all ages.

To address persistent drainage issues that render portions of the park unusable during wet weather, the plan incorporates green infrastructure solutions, improving usability while promoting environmental sustainability. The design also strengthens the park’s connection to Lowville’s urban core by reorganizing and expanding parking, as well as creating safer, more accessible pedestrian pathways linking the park to local businesses.

This thoughtful rehabilitation, developed as part of Lowville’s Downtown Redevelopment Initiative planning study, celebrates the park’s historical importance, enhances its functionality, and ensures it remains a beloved community hub for generations to come.
