Monroe Community College Nature Play

Sue Steele led the design of a nature-based play environment for the Richard M. Guon Child Care Center, focusing on creating an interactive and sensory-rich outdoor learning space. The design incorporates natural elements like plants and play opportunities that encourage sensory exploration and engagement with the environment.

Key features include musical instruments, looped bike paths, playhouses, sandboxes, and rain barrels, which allow children to connect with nature in a hands-on way. The design promotes outdoor learning by providing a space where the center’s staff can regularly take children outdoors, fostering exploration and play while encouraging a deeper connection to the natural world.
