NYPA Energy Zone Pollinator Garden

NYPA Energy Zone Pollinator Garden

Steele Landscape Architecture designed a pollinator garden for the New York Power Authority’s Energy Zone education center in Utica, New York, transforming an inhospitable outdoor space into a welcoming and functional area for students and staff. The project incorporates native pollinator gardens to enhance local ecology, support biodiversity, and offer educational opportunities. A shaded seating area was thoughtfully designed to provide visitors with a comfortable space for relaxation and learning. Pedestrian connections link the facility to a parking lot overlook, which offers sweeping views of a historic Olmsted-designed park and the City of Utica, enriching the visitor experience. The project is in the design phase and will be constructed in 2025.
