Friendly Home Master Plan

Friendly Home Master Plan

Steele Landscape Architecture collaborated with the Friendly Home, a senior care community in Brighton, New York, to develop a Campus Master Plan for its 10-acre campus. Founded in 1849, the Friendly Home provides skilled nursing, memory care, hospice care, and rehabilitation services. Following significant building expansions and the addition of a café, the focus has shifted to enhancing the outdoor environment.

The Campus Master Plan addresses deficiencies in aging infrastructure and outlines future improvement strategies responsive to user needs and trends in senior living design. Two priority projects include redesigning the aging interior courtyard to better support residents’ needs and programming, as well as creating a new walking trail to serve as an inviting amenity for residents, staff, and visitors.

The plan offers a clear framework for phased development, ensuring enhancements contribute to a more functional, engaging, and accessible outdoor environment for all campus users.
