Alfred University Harder Hall

Alfred University Harder Hall
Steele Landscape Architecture is collaborating with the MRB Group to develop a new ADA accessible entry to Harder Hall and the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. The project includes the design of a new courtyard and entry space, outdoor student gathering area, and a landscaped display area for ceramic art installations.
The team explored several options to achieve ADA accessibility, including various traditional and contemporary ramp designs, ultimately settling on the simplest option – designing a new architectural vestibule with an accessible lift. The design allowed the exterior space to be preserved for student use, shade trees, seating, and gateway signage. The project is planned for construction in 2025.
